The Fairfield Police Department’s Explorer Program is a volunteer resource that is designed to involve young men and women in community events and increase citizen-police cooperation and understanding. The Police Explorer Program will provide both police related education and experience to our young adults wishing to pursue a law enforcement career and the opportunity to enjoy recreational activities, community service, and fundraising programs.


  • Be 14 to 18 years of age (may continue in program until 21 years old)
  • Maintain at least a 2.0 GPA in High School. If graduated from High School, you must carry at least 3 semester credits in higher education
  • Be free from any physical or mental condition that could impair participation in the program
  • Have no record of arrest
  • Have no serious moving violations
  • Complete and submit an application to the program coordinator
  • Pass a general knowledge written examination
  • Participate in an oral interview
  • Pass a thorough background investigation
